Is it possible to lead a company that has been operating as a manufactory for 150 years into the digital age in just 12 months?
Thanks to its strong and motivated team, Zimmerli of Switzerland, a manufacturer of the finest day and nightwear since 1871, has succeeded in doing so.
Jànos Heé, managing director of Zimmerli of Switzerland, looks back on a successful year.
Zimmerli has just launched the world's first digital and channel-independent lookbook for the limited collection of the coming season. Normally the inspiring illustrations are produced in analogue format and are only made available to retailers for placing their orders. "Zimmerli has reinvented the lookbook: everyone - customers, retailers, influencers and of course the traditional lifestyle media - can already see what will be hip the day after tomorrow," says Heé.
"And the best thing for lovers of Zimmerli lingerie: some products can not only be conveniently pre-ordered digitally, but can also be personalised". Thanks to a completely new online made-to-measure function, which will go live in the first half of 2021, various product details will be tailored directly to customer wishes.
The managing director Jànos Heé talks about the achievements Zimmerli has made this year.
This year Zimmerli has also completely redesigned the Zimmerli website. But that's not all, there is now also the Zimmerli outlet store online: "With this, the company opens up new customer segments, because we know what happens once you get to know the incomparable wearing comfort of our lingerie".
But a lot has also happened behind the scenes this year. To ensure that everything runs smoothly on the customer front, production and logistics have been brought together in one place over the past few months. The new, shorter distances help Zimmerli to shorten delivery times considerably and to respond to the needs of customers and partners even more flexibly. Especially in this challenging year due to the pandemic, this has already proven itself many times over and paid off for Zimmerli. "And it is also environmentally friendly: 20 percent of transports have been saved in recent months," reports Heé.
In order to meet the needs of customers and the environment even more fairly, the logistics and production facilities of Zimmerli merged in the summer of 2020.
"We are also well prepared for the coming year, because the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), which is also new, helps us to control and continuously optimise all processes in a timely manner and in line with demand". Some other advantages besides ensuring the highest quality proverbial for Zimmerli: greater productivity, security of supply with regard to the exclusive materials required and, last but not least, low capital commitment.
"A big thank you goes to the motivated Zimmerli team for an outstanding performance this year. On to another 150 years of Zimmerli innovations."
